TYPES OF FRUIT GROWN AT AUVIL FARMS

APPLES:
gala_apple
Galas are an early apple harvested from mid August to early September. It is a red striped apple with yellow background color. It is considered a dessert sweet apple, with good cooking qualities as well as great to eat fresh.

Available August through March
 
Granny Smith apples are harvested from mid September to late October. It is a green apple with white freckles. It's taste is tart, making them wonderful cooking apples and good to eat.

Available September through May
 
Auvil Fuji
Fuji's are a late fall apple, harvested from early October to mid November. It is also described as a red striped apple or a blush red with a yellow background. The Fuji is a very sweet dessert apple, good for cooking and eating fresh.

Available September through June
 
Auvil Braeburn

Braeburn variety has a rich flavor and is medium in size, making it an excellent choice for baking, sauces, and freezing.


Available November through January
 
Auvil Pink Lady

Cripps Pink variety is firm and juicy with a tangy sweet and tart flavor. Excellent for eating fresh, or in salads and pies.


Available November through May
 
Honeycrisps are also a late fall apple, harvested from the end of October to mid November. It is a bright pink to red blush apple with a cream background. The taste is described as a sweet tart, making them good for cooking and eating.

Auvil Aurora

Aurora Golden Gala is the newest member of the Auvil program.  Delicious dessert apple, exhibits notes of honey and tropical fruit, and is delicious when sliced in salads or in baking.

CHERRIES: Both are dessert sweet and market fresh

Rainier cherries are harvested late June to the first of July. They are an extremely large white flesh cherry with a bright red blush color over a golden yellow background.

Bing cherries are harvested mid June to the end of June. They are a large deep dark red or black cherry.
